The collection contains several old manuscripts. Most of the manuscripts are written in classical Arabic. They are written in prose and poetry. Some are copies of the original works by important Muslim scholars dealing with religious subjects. Others have glosses in Arabic, Soninke, and Mandinka Ajami. The documents include Mandinka incantations and texts with special figures and numerological formulas to address various social and health problems, including infertility. The Ajami texts are generally vocalized.
